We added 5 more obstacles and made each one more difficult than our entry-level events. Combine them with a 10K race course, intense elevation and you’ll understand why we call it the Super.
Many medals are tossed in a drawer, but not these. Spartan medals are earned, not given. Your Super medal also comes with a special magnetic wedge that fits together with the Sprint, Beast and others to form the coveted Spartan Trifecta.

If you’re new to this sport, one of best preparations is to complete a Spartan Sprint. You’ll get a solid understanding of the demands of obstacle course racing. If you’ve raced before, 10K training plans are a good start. You’ll also want to practice actual heavy carries, and work on overhead grip strength. Spartan has specific training plans to help you.
The Super is off-road, so you’ll need gear to get you through dirt, water, and mud. Wear a sturdy pair of trail running shoes with good grip. If you’re racing in the cold, you might consider layers or compression for warmth. Some Spartans cover their arms and legs for comfort during crawls and carries. You’ll have access to regular hydration points at aid stations.
